Transitions on ART BLOCKS

BY JASON TING x MATT BILFIELD

4,712 unique editions minted JULY 31, 2021 on ARTBLOCKS.IO

A collaborative project that transitions the visual aesthetic of a Matt Bilfield peg piece to the generative art world. “Pixels” from the physical world take on new life as the limitations of reality are removed and they are free to assemble and morph without the rigidity or permanence of wood, paint, and glue. Round and square variants incorporate multiple color palettes into four unique styles, each with their own distinct attributes. Additional variety in dimensions, depth, color placement, animation, and light modes ensure no two are alike. Each piece can be explored further using the mouse to see all angles.

What is an Art Blocks generative NFT?

Art Blocks is a platform dedicated to generative digital art that transforms code into colorful abstractions. Artists submit their code and determine the number of editions to be produced from it along with the variables that will define each piece of art. When a sale is open, collectors don’t know exactly what they’ll get when they purchase the artwork. That action triggers the script that renders their iteration of the project on the Art Blocks site. Then the image is minted as a token, and the work appears in their Ethereum wallet.
